Winter Day

Written when I went on vacation with my family.

The flames eagerly leap

licking up the oxygen;

creating a warm glow,

melting leftover ice and snow

off of pants and sweaters;

Warming the tingling extremities.

The kettle boils –

steam erupts from the too

as water bubbles inside.

Outside the big window

snow flies by speedily

carried by the arctic winds.

In a frenzy everything whitens.

Nothing stands a chance.

‘Tis a perfect winter day.
