New Years Resolution

Sick of all the New Years Resolutions that you haven’t been able to keep? Are you making one for 2016? Try a SMART goal this year. What exactly is a SMART goal, though?

S – Specific 

M – Measurable

A – Achievable 

R – Realistic 

T – Timely

What does this all mean? Well, let’s say your resolution is to go to the gym more. Let’s make it into a SMART goal. Try think the Who, What, Where, Why, and When.

Specific – Is this a specific goal? What gym would you go to? With whom will you go with? What time will you go?

Measurable – Is this a measurable goal? How much is ‘more’? Is it three times a week? Two times a week? Maybe even once.

Achievable – Are you able to achieve this goal? How can this goal be achieved?

Realistic – Is this a realistic goal for you? Is it realistic to say you will go to the gym four times a week? Is this the right goal for you?

Timely – What can you do now to achieve it? What will you do in 6 months to ensure that this goal is being met? What will you do in 1 month? What will you do tomorrow?
